Vertical Skills Adventure Activity Centre provide extreme adventure activities in the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales.
Vertical Skills is all about getting people out of their comfort zone and into real adventure. From scrambling through canyons and exploring underground caves to climbing rock faces and navigating wild terrain, we deliver hands-on experiences that are as fun as they are rewarding. Whether you’re looking for a full-on adrenaline day or a chance to build confidence in the outdoors, we create sessions that are active, engaging, and genuinely memorable.
Our base camp in Coniston gives you a solid starting point for your day—somewhere to get changed, get organised, and feel ready before heading out. From there, the landscape becomes our playground. Alongside our Coniston activities, we run a fully mobile operation across the Lakes and beyond, taking adventure on the road. That means canyoning and caving in North Yorkshire, climbing and mountain days around Keswick, and delivering tailored sessions wherever the environment offers something special.
Canyoning and caving sit at the heart of what we do, but that’s just the beginning. We also offer climbing, mountain skills, navigation training, and white water rafting—always with a focus on learning by doing. Every session is built to challenge, support, and leave people with a real sense of achievement (and usually a big smile at the end of it).

We always make sure that our kit and equipment is in tip top condition. We import our wetsuits from Spain to make sure you stay warm and comfortable even in colder times of the year and believe us the import tax post Brexit is no laughing matter. When you book with us, you wont find your self putting on smelly; damaged, wet or ill fitting wetsuits.
Our wide selection of activities perfect for a range of people from families to stag and hen groups, to the military for adventure training packages. Vertical Skills tailor each activity to the individual or groups requirement making sure that every person goes away having had a fantastic time.
